Samantha StosurSamantha Stosur is a professional, top tennis player from Australia.Her style of play during her early years is serves and volleys however; she started to progress and be comfortable in hitting on the baseline. She is used to play in doubles and he is actually good with her drop shots and volleys yet, in her single matches, she often missed these shots.

Stosur is considered having the strongest serve among the women tennis tour. She is most comfortable in hard- court and her least favorite one is on grass due to the fact that she has strong kick-serve and topspin forehand, which are least effective in this surface.

Her first professional play is on ITF circuit in 1999. Debuted on Women’s tennis Association tour in 2000. At the Australian Open, she was disappointed in the first qualifying round. By the Next year in 2001, she victoriously acquired her four straight ITF titles. In 2002,she was overpowered in the first round at the Gold Coast event. As early as in 2003, she first won her WTA singles match leading to the third round of the Australian Open but unfortunately, 7th seed, Daniela Hantuchova, defeated her. In 2004, she was able to reach the semis at the Gold Coast but failed to Ai Sugiyama.

In 2005, she reached her first WTA tour final of the Gold Coast at her home court, overwhelmed by Patty Schnyder.

In 2006, she stretched her career-high ranking of No. 30 after the semifinals at New Haven even though Lindsay Davenport beaten her.  By the next year, she and Lisa Raymond victoriously protected their doubles titles in Tokyo, Indian Wells and in Miami. By the end of 2008, she ranked No.52 in the WTA singles.

She advanced in the semifinals at the 2009 French Open. She made it into the finals of French Open just the year after this, in 2010, where Francesca Schiavone overpowered her.

Her ranking went high, as high as rank No. 5 even though she suffered defeat very early in the 2011 Australian Open.

She effectively secured her rank No.5 title this year. She contended at Qatar Total Open in Doha as seed three, but Anastasia Yakimova conquered her. She also had a rematch with Cirstea at the 2010 Australian Open. By this time around, Stosur finally overpowered her in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5). In the quarterfinals, she overwhelmed Petra Cetkovska and losing Monica Niculescu and marion Bartoli in the semi – finals, allowing her to reach the finals.
